Defensive Back (and Birmingham native) Amon Scarbrough was named the Soutwhestern Athletic Conference's Defensive Player of the Week on Monday.
Scarbrough recorded eight tackles, inducing six solos and one tackle for loss. Scarbrough's interception ended Alabama A&M's final drive and sealed the Hornets 27-19 win in the Magic City Classic. He also had a pass break up and a fumble forced.
The Alabama State defense caused four AAMU turnovers that led to 20 points last week.
