About

This blog will attempt to record, chronologically, the short history of the various professional football teams in Birmingham through newspaper articles published at the time.

I know that Birmingham has hosted a few more professional teams than the those currently being worked on (being Americans/Vulcans, Stallions I, Fire, Thunderbolts, Iron, Stallions II). Those may be added later.

It's unlikely that the Indoor/Arena teams will be included. That type of football generally does not appeal to me.

The Barracudas of the CFL will also not be included. I am through and through an Ottawa football fan and have no interest in reliving the ill-fated experiment that was the CFL's expansion into the United States.

To make some of the team pages a bit more manageable, some of the larger articles will be posted as blog posts to which the page will link.

There is no rhyme or reason to which team happens to get attention on any given day. It's just kind of a rotation thing. If it feels like it's been a while since I did anything with the Bolts, maybe they get some love that day.

I have zero actual connection to the city of Birmingham besides being drawn to its football teams for reasons not interesting enough to share (although it may explain a lot to know despite the distance between the state of Alabama and my home province of Ontario, I've still been known to belt out the occasional "War Eagle" 😁)

That's all for now. This page will get updated if more comes to mind.
